I saw a Gravity Falls meme on Pinterest about the mystery twins and I thought...but what if they were the wonder twins too? Jane as Mabel feels weirdly correct for some reason. She's supposed to become queen in just over a year, but that’s the last thing she wants. After being forcibly cloistered to focus on her academics and queenly training, she wants to see the world—and escape from the life that was predetermined for her. She stumbles upon Robin’s circle after deciding to run away from her approaching arranged marriage to the Harrington family’s prince (though no one is aware the Harrington prince has been secretly seeing the “lowly” boy from the Munson clan) and finds herself in the woods one night. She was warned of fierce creatures that live in the woods—Demogorgons—but she was willing to take her chances. She finds herself near death, being chased by one until she’s cornered—until a wildshaped Robin swoops in and scares it off.

Robin Buckley is scrappy human druid from a small circle in the nearby woods just outside of Nancy’s family’s kingdom, displaced from their homes when the Wheeler dynasty moved in. Her circle of druids despises the kingdom and all within it, but Robin still tries to approach the subject with curiosity rather than anger. She lives a life running a little wild in the never-ending boundaries of the woods.

Will Byers is a half-halfing (quarterling? he’s mostly human) cleric. Part of the Byers family—a family with close ties to the Wheelers—he works closely with Mike the paladin in kingdom affairs. He’s a little shy, but he’s powerful and loyal. He spends his free time with the party, helping his brother with his scribe work, or cooped up in the Byers’ tower, practicing magic and painting.

Lucas Sinclair is an elf and a ranger, part of a hunting squadron for the royal Wheeler family. He leads the hunters valiantly but still suffers the loss of his sister, Erica, who was believed to be killed by a demogorgon when she was lost in the woods as a young child. He is one of the best archers in the kingdom.

Jane hopper is an aasimar orphaned sorcerer who escaped from the clutches of the evil wizard, Henry Creel. She ended up wandering the kingdom streets, gravely injured and frightened. Someone called the royal guard on her, and Mike showed up to find a wounded aasimar. He took her in and she was eventually adopted by Hopper and joined the Hopper-Byers family, now the sister of Jonathan and Will.

Max Mayfield is a blind tiefling rogue-assassin, taking out her victims quickly and gracefully despite her damaged vision. She’s part of an underground assassin’s guild in the kingdom. What she does is fully not legal, but no one besides Lucas is aware of this.

Joyce Byers is a halfling who works at the local artisans’ shop. She has a knack for knowing when something is wrong and tends to spend a good portion of her free time with her husband, Hopper. She helps him solve crimes and piece together clues. She is quite close to Queen Karen, their friendship forming when Mike snuck out of the castle one day when he was young and managed to befriend her son, Will.

Jim Hopper, more commonly referred to as just “Hopper”, is the half-orc leader of the royal guard, determined to protect the people of the Wheeler’s Kingdom, Hawkins. He’s a little bit of a hothead and has a tendency to act without the support of the rest of the guards, but he always gets the job done. His loyalties lie with his daughter first, his wife and the Byers second, and the good of the people third.

Steve Harrington is a human prince of the Harrington kingdom, the kingdom just one over from the Wheeler kingdom. He tends to spend most of his time in the Wheeler kingdom, though, to his parents’ belief that he’s there on diplomatic cause and wooing the princess, Nancy. Steve, however, uses his time in the Wheeler kingdom to escape from his neglectful parents and wander the streets, making fast friends with those he meets under a pseudonym and a mask. He spends his time with Eddie Munson of the Munson clan and has been slowly trying to court him.

Eddie Munson is a changeling, a thief, and a master storyteller. He’s a bit of a fugitive, but no one can *quite* prove what wrongdoings he’s responsible for, so he lives off the hook but still relegated to the shadows. He is a member of the Munson clan, comprised at this point of only himself and his uncle. The Munson clan used to be a feared and formidable militia of sorts, something like a mafia or underground assassin ring. They would do odd jobs, though they were usually illegal or violent in nature. Eddies uncle, Wayne, didn’t want much to do with the group anymore and stayed relatively out of it, so when the rest of the Munson clan were either imprisoned or killed, he managed to avoid the same fate and vowed to keep Eddie out of trouble (he has not been able to do that very well). Eddie spends his time at the Acrobatic Flea, slyly stealing coins as he enthralls people with his completely fictional (but not to their knowledge) tales. Being a changeling, he can always have a new face once he gets run out of a place. But Steve, the boy that Eddie is fully aware is a prince—unbeknownst to Steve (he enjoys toying with Steve, though he won’t admit he does have feelings for)—always seems to find him no matter his form. Steve tells him that it’s the eyes, that his eyes glisten the same way no matter what the rest of him looks like.

Jonathan Byers is half-halfling scribe for the royal court, recording notes and intricacies of each and every meeting. His real passion, though, is reading his works on stage at the Acrobatic Flea, the “underground” tavern that’s only open late at night into early morning. He has a tendency to indulge in some wine and magical plants. He had a past relationship with the princess, Nancy, in secret from most others. They broke up once her parents found out, though Queen Karen was hesitantly supportive (King Ted was not). He listens to Nancy rant and complain about court problems and the stressors of her life, many of which inspire him to write his own poems, which become somewhat popular.

Erica Sinclair is an elf druid who went out to the woods one day and found a couple of druids in the woods. They didn’t want to accept her into their circle, so she learned druid magic and helped to save them during a Demogorgon attack. They recognized their mistake in dismissing her and welcomed her into their circle. Eventually, she was appointed high druid once the previous high druid was not long for this world. She keeps the druids in check and had allowed for them to form a flourishing and tight-knit community. She has grown to become incredibly powerful, but often chooses to refrain from demonstrating the true extent of her abilities.
